Scroll Journal
Privacy Policy
Effective date: September 12, 2026
Last updated: October 2, 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how Scroll Journal handles information in the iPhone app and on this website. Scroll Journal is provided by MD SOBAN JAWAID.
1. Information stored locally
Scroll Journal stores the information you enter locally on your device using Apple SwiftData. This can include recorded sessions, dates, platform names, time spent, reasons, mood selections, built-in and custom tags attached to sessions, Daily Reflections, saved creator records, creator screenshots, profile links, personal notes, and existing creator metadata such as handles, platforms, or topics.
The reusable custom-tag catalogue is stored locally using UserDefaults. Weekly and monthly Insights are calculated on your device from your recorded data; they are not generated or processed by a remote service.
2. No collection or transmission of journal data
Scroll Journal does not upload or transmit your sessions, reflections, mood selections, reasons, tags, creator records, screenshots, profile links, notes, or creator metadata to the developer. The developer cannot access, retrieve, read, recover, sell, or share this information.
Platform suggestions and recently used names are local conveniences. The app does not authenticate with social-media accounts, call social-media APIs, read browsing history, access Apple Screen Time, or automatically detect social-media activity.
3. Accounts, analytics, advertising, and third parties
Scroll Journal does not require an account or sign-in. It does not use analytics, advertising, tracking, third-party SDKs, third-party APIs, an external AI service, or a developer-operated server or cloud-synchronization service.
4. Locally calculated Insights
Weekly and monthly Insights use deterministic calculations based on the structured information you manually record. Narrative insights require at least three completed sessions in the selected period, and comparisons require sufficient data in both periods.
Insights are personal reflection tools and are not medical, psychological, diagnostic, therapeutic, or professional advice.
5. Optional reflection notifications
Scroll Journal requests notification permission only after you explicitly select Enable reflection reminders. If permitted and a reflection remains incomplete, Apple UserNotifications can schedule local reminders for 10:00 PM, 10:00 AM the following morning, and 11:30 AM before the noon deadline. Remind Me Later can schedule another local reminder approximately 30 minutes later without exceeding that deadline.
Completing the reflection clears related pending and delivered reminders. No remote notification server is involved, and notification content is not sent to the developer. You can disable notifications in iOS Settings.
6. Creator screenshots and Photos access
When you choose to add a creator screenshot, Scroll Journal uses the iOS Photos picker. The app receives only the image you select and does not browse your entire photo library. Large selected images are resized to a maximum dimension of 2,400 pixels, converted to JPEG, and stored locally.
You can replace or remove a creator screenshot. Scroll Journal does not upload screenshots or use them for analytics, advertising, or AI processing.
7. External links and internet use
Journal and creator functionality work locally. Internet access is used only when you choose to open a saved creator profile link, the Scroll Journal website, this Privacy Policy, or the Support page.
Creator links must use HTTP or HTTPS and open outside the app. Scroll Journal does not download creator profiles or send journal or creator data to the linked website.
8. Storage, retention, and deletion
Information remains locally on your device until you delete it or remove the app. You can delete individual sessions inside Scroll Journal. You can also delete saved creators; deleting a creator removes its locally stored screenshot, link, note, and associated metadata.
Removing Scroll Journal deletes its locally stored application data from that device, subject to any backups independently maintained by iOS. The developer cannot recover deleted information.
9. Device backups
Scroll Journal does not implement its own cloud backup or synchronization. iOS may handle backups separately according to your Apple and device backup settings. Those services are controlled by you and Apple, not by the Scroll Journal developer.
10. Data compatibility
Local migration logic may move older reflection data into dedicated Daily Reflection records, migrate custom tags from an earlier local storage key, and group older full platform names with their current short labels. These migrations preserve local records and do not transmit them.
11. Support emails
If you voluntarily email support, the developer receives your email address, message, and any information you choose to include. That information is used only to answer your request and meet legitimate legal or security obligations. Do not include private journal content unless necessary.
12. Website privacy
This website does not use analytics, advertising, tracking scripts, a contact form, or cookies added by the developer. Its hosting provider may process standard technical request logs under its own practices. Using an email link opens your chosen email service; it does not submit information through this website.
13. Security
Keeping journal information on your device limits external access, but no storage method can be guaranteed completely secure. The security of locally stored information also depends on your device, passcode, operating-system security, and backup settings.
14. Children’s privacy
Scroll Journal is a general-audience journaling utility and is not directed to children under 13. The app does not knowingly collect or transmit journal information from children. A parent or guardian who believes a child sent personal information through a support email may contact the developer to request its deletion.
15. Changes to this policy
This policy may be updated if Scroll Journal’s features or data practices change. Any revised policy will be posted here with an updated date.
